As an editor, I have been responsible for a number of media. Most recently, I was the managing editor of Lee+. This is the official magazine of Librerías Gandhi, the Mexican version of Barnes & Noble. With over 1 million readers per month, it is the largest literary publication in the country.

In addition to editing the magazine, I also conducted several interviews with talented creators such as Ai Weiwei, the contemporary artist and activist, and Elizabeth Gilbert, the bestselling author of Eat, Pray, Love.

Before that, I was the editor-in-chief of Letras Libres, the highbrow magazine of the historian Enrique Krauze. I managed an in-house team of 8 and more than 300 freelance writers, including Nobel laureates Vargas Llosa, Valeria Luiselli and David Rieff. My responsibilities included content ideation, editorial planning, copyediting and proofreading.

Letras Libres presents itself as the heir to Vuelta, a magazine founded by Mexico's only Nobel laureate in literature, Octavio Paz.

Prior to these endeavors, I learned the profession in Germany, where I had the honor of being the first non-native speaker to work at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. This is a weekly newspaper based in Berlin. In fact, I spent most of 2009 working in the travel section, not only working side-by-side with senior editors, but also traveling the globe in search of stories for our readers. From Belgrade to the Azores and from the Amazon to Israel, I wrote stories about sustainability, local culture, and hidden gems.

My time at Weltkunst deserves special mention. Founded in 1930, it is the oldest German-language art magazine. In addition to editorial work, I researched the Kraemers, the most prominent family of antique dealers in Paris. I had the privilege of interviewing them at their gallery in Paris and at their summer residence in Deauville. They told me about the Nazis looting their shop, about their recovery from the war thanks to a table by Boulle, and about their contemporary clients, such as Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, the White House, Versailles, and many others. This amazing story made the cover of the magazine.

Digital

In the digital world, I was responsible for launching and managing two blogs on Canva's education platform. Valued at $25 billion, Canva is the world's leading graphic design app. Our photography and education blogs were designed to retain customers and grow our audience. I managed two teams of 7 people each consisting of copywriters, photographers, designers, SEO specialists and outreach people. We reached 10 million readers.

Canva was a life-changing experience for me, not only because it was great to work with Aussies, but also because I really got into content marketing, which was different from the journalism I had been doing.

But before that was designboom. Launched in 1999 as the first digital magazine on design, art, architecture and technology, designboom is a milestone in online publications. Headquartered in Milan, I helped the founders launch designboom español from an office in a Mexico City skyscraper.

I built a team of translators, designers and copywriters and we published original content focused on Latin America. Among many great stories with global players, I interviewed and photographed Steve McCurry, National Geographic's most famous photographer.

SEO

Studies show that in the current period of 2023-2027, content marketing as a market is expected to grow to $585 billion. As big as this industry is, I am a seasoned content marketer with solid SEO expertise dating back to my days at designboom and Canva.

Since then, I've been an active contributor to major content marketing agencies like Contently and Croud. I have produced and localized optimized content for brands in various industries, such as:

  • Services: Google Maps, Amazon, Audible, Airbnb, Uber, Taboola, Zendesk

  • Retail: The North Face, Vans, Timberland, Victoria’s Secret, Wagner

  • Health: UPMC, Luminis Health

  • Tourism: Marriott Hotels, Mandarin Oriental, Expedia, trivago, eDreams

This means that I am familiar with most of the SEO tools out there, ranging from Google Analytics and Ahrefs to Clearscope and Mangols.
